The Impact of Social Media in US Elections.6 Research Paper
The Impact of Social Media in US Elections.6 - Research Paper Example Being an interpersonal organization, utilization of online networking has spread with a high energy due to social interconnectivity that joins companions and family members. The Diffusion of development hypothesis clarifies the pattern that the online life has embraced and offers a reason for guaging its future direction. As per the hypothesis, development picks up ubiquity and orders the societyââ¬â¢s consideration until when such consideration blurs. Rogers, the theoryââ¬â¢s designer, proposed four phases that are anticipated from the internet based life, and its impacts on US decisions, later on. The primary phase of the model includes appropriation by a little segment of the general public, trailblazers, who are eager to wander the advancement following its turn of events. The populace segment grasps potential dangers that may dishearten others. Following the innovatorsââ¬â¢ activity is the appropriation of an innovation by early adopters whose populace is higher than th at of trailblazers. The populace section distinguishes pioneers who needn't bother with influence into a technologyââ¬â¢s application and are adaptable to executing developments. A bigger level of the populace into an advancement is the early larger part who depends on proof of the technologyââ¬â¢s impacts before reception and a roughly equal extent, the late dominant part, tails them. New clients of the advancement at that point diminish as the model gets into the laggardsââ¬â¢ stage (Boston University 1; Baran and Davis 282). The modelââ¬â¢s changeability with time would then be able to offer knowledge into the future impacts of online networking on the races. The hypothesis further recommends an innovationââ¬â¢s impact of lessening old media frames as the general public embraces another media application (Boston University 1). Shawââ¬â¢s bend of the old media additionally offers a reason for understanding the pattern basically of the online life on US races. Like in the dispersion hypothesis, Shaw clarifies that an advancement picks up fame until a greatest degree of crowd before the number begins to decay and the ideal opportunity for the cycle relies upon the extent of a former development or a recently evolv ed advancement. Improvement of a superior advancement may for instance encourage the cycle as the general public moves to work the new turn of events. These ideas subsequently offers the reason for understanding potential patterns of the impact of online networking on the races that can be determined with information on past advancements and theories of improvement of new applications for mass correspondence. Existing information over web utilize that shows high rates recommends that use of the online networking for correspondence is in cutting edge phases of the dispersion hypothesis model. Application past 60 percent of the grown-up populace demonstrates plausibility of a late lion's share stage

Freelance Writing Jobs Upwork versus Freelancer
If you are in the writing industry and are looking to find some freelance work, there are many options out there for you. One of the quickest way to find clients and get hired is to use a third party website designed to bring clients needing work together with freelancers who have the skills to get the work done. Upwork and Freelancer are two of these third party websites. Basically, they act as the middle man between the client and the freelancer and, like all middlemen, they take their cut for helping to make the deal possible. This article will compare the two websites from a freelancerââ¬â¢s perspective. The base of operations for Freelancer is in Australia. It has been around since 2004 and is one of the largest outsourcing services in the world. The number of verified users (clients and freelancers) is close to 8 million and there are over 4 million jobs posted. Upwork came about when oDesk and Elance were merged together. oDesk had been in existence since 2003 and Elance was the oldest of the freelance websites, founded back in 1999. They announced a merger late in December 2013 and slowly merged users from the two sites into the rebranded website, Upwork. So, now that oDesk and Elance are one, two of the top dogs when it comes to freelance websites are Upwork and Freelancer. As a long time user of Upwork, I was freelancing when it was oDesk, I have more intimate knowledge of that platform, but I will do my best to provide you with a fair comparison of both sites. If you want a little more in-depth analysis of how to make money from this site, pickup a copy of The Online Writerââ¬â¢s Companion from FWUââ¬â¢s own PJ Aitken. He made a small fortune on this site and continues to do so. Everything he did and everything you need to replicate him is in this book. Getting Started Many of the features that Upwork and Freelancer have in common work basically in the same way. This is especially the case when you are first getting started. As with most freelance websites, the first step is to create your profile. Your profile includes a photo of you, a short description of your services, and a tagline. You can also add a list of skills you have so that clients can search using skills as keywords to find your profile. After youââ¬â¢ve created your profile, you can start looking for work. Thankfully, the thousands of job postings are categorized. However, you will find that as a new freelancer, a lot of your time will be invested in reading through job postings and weeding out the legitimate, serious clients from those who want the best, but donââ¬â¢t want to pay for it. The one thing I actually liked about Freelancer is that it does have a feature where recommended jobs will pop up in a transparent window every now and then. It allows you to quickly see a job that is posted that may fit your skill set. I also thought the job postings on Freelancer were visually easier to browse than those on Upwork. Cost and Fees Both Freelancer and Upwork are completely free to get started, but because actually getting hired as a new freelancer is primarily a numbers game, you may need to upgrade your membership in order to be able to send out more bids and increase your odds of getting hired. Upwork works on a Connects system, with 60 free Connects a month (and a cost of 1 to 5 per job). Freelancer allows 15 bids monthly. Neither of these will be sufficient for new freelancers who are serious about getting work. You can remain a free member indefinitely on Upwork. When it comes time to upgrade, Upwork bills $10 monthly for an additional 10 connects per month, as well as the option to buy more, whereas Freelancer offers a 15 bid per month membership for $11.88 annually after the first 30 days and then a Plus membership at $9.95 for 100 bids per month. Upwork and Freelancer both charge commission fees which are deducted from your earnings. As a new freelancer, the commission will be the same, 20% on either site. If you make $10, your commission fee is $2 and it is taken from your earnings prior to them being deposited to your bank account. Pay attention to the payment method you use as some methods will incur additional transaction fees. Upwork does have a sliding scale commission that was just implemented in June 2016. This means that once you have earned at least $500 from the same client, your commission fee for future work from that client drops to 10%. If you make more than $10,000 from the same client, your commission fee will drop to 5%. This is a great system for new freelancers getting started on Upwork, but it has been controversial for existing freelancers who were only paying 10% commission and now have to pay 20% for any new client they take on until they have earned $500 from that client. Many freelancers will never earn $500 from just one client and thus will always be paying 20% commission. Overall I would have to say that on both sites you will have to spend time and do your research to ensure that you bid on legitimate jobs. Because both sites have workers from all over the world, there will be people who can outbid you. Itââ¬â¢s important not to get caught up in the trap of lowering your prices but to instead submit a quality bid that accurately describes what you will provide and why the client should choose you over other freelancers, even though your bid is higher. There will be scammers and those who will try to get a ton of work for very little money. I personally have never been scammed and have always received payment, and many freelancers will testify to the same. Customer Service Across the board, customer service for freelance websites seems to be substandard. I will say that prior to the merge of oDesk and Elance, I seldom needed to interact with customer service as everything seemed to flow smoothly. Since the merger, there have been several incidents where the site was not working correctly and I had to contact customer service for assistance. I find the support ticket submission process for Upwork to be quite irritating and often it would freeze up, requiring me to re-enter all information in order to submit a ticket. They also do not offer live chat support any longer for ââ¬Å"freeâ⬠members so I have to wait for them to email a response. Freelancer does offer live support for their ââ¬Å"freeâ⬠members and in the one instance I had to use it thus far, I found them to be very responsive. Conclusion My preference overall is for Upwork simply because I have had significant success in getting jobs and actually earning income. When I first began I averaged several hundred dollars a month but I was working insane hours. After six months I averaged $700-$1,000 working approximately 25 to 30 hours per week. Now because Iââ¬â¢ve curated my reputation and can charge higher fees, Iââ¬â¢m able to bring in $1,500 to $2,000 monthly working approximately 20 hours per week for a handful of regular clients. Their rating system for freelancers seems fair and feedback on employers is insightful and accurate. Of course, the amount you make on either site will depend entirely on your skill level and the amount of effort you put into finding and retaining clients. There are pros and cons to both sites and in most cases which you choose will be a matter of your personal preferences and work style. If you are still undecided, I would suggest creating a profile on both sites to start off with and dedicating a set amount of time to finding clients on each to see what works better for your business. Essay On Immunocastration In Milk - 747 Words
In addition, consistent with the low density of spermatogonia, spermatids and seminiferous tubules observed in testicles, the mRNA expressions of LH-à ² and FSH-à ² in the pituitary gland were both significantly decreased after immunocastration in the treated rams. The result is in agreement with the findings of [Wei et al., 2011] in rabbit and [Fang et al., 2010] in boar that GNRHR mRNA expression in the pituitary was significantly decreased in immunocastrated animals. Furthermore, [Sakurai et al., 1992] reported that there was a reduction of GNRHR mRNA in the pituitary and protein concentration after passive immunocastration of male sheep. Leydig cells have essential roles in the maintenance of steroidogenesis and spermatogenesis in the testes. The failures of both processes are attributed to Leydig cell dysfunction. In the current research, expression of testicular LH receptor and FSH receptor mRNAs was significantly lower in the treated ram lambs (P 0.05), implying that testicular responsiveness to LH stimulation was impaired. Indeed, active immunization against GNRH in boars significantly reduced testicular LH receptor and testosterone concentrations following treatment with exogenous LH [Wei et al. 2011; Wei et al., 2012]. Moreover, expression of testicular LHR mRNA was significantly decreased, which further confirmed that the functions of Leydig within testes were severely impaired. In addition, it is well known that FSH plays a role in spermatogenesis. However, the expression levels of FSHR mRNA in the testes of treated rams and control rams were not siginificantly different, demonstrating oral kisspeptin DNA im munization has no influence on

Substance Use Disorderââ¬â¢s (SUD) have become an escalating issue in the mental health field over the last few decades. The alarming incline to drug related and co-occurring maladaptive behaviors has created a dedicated science to better understand and define this problematic situation. Definition allows the therapeutic process to evolve around the symptomatic problem in order to deliver the hope of recovery. Social stigmas often view drug abuse and addiction as one in the same, but when viewed by the clinician, they take on an important role in defining treatment. Vermeer In Bosnia By Lawrence Weschler - 1279 Words
In the text ââ¬Å"Vermeer in Bosniaâ⬠by Lawrence Weschler, Weschler builds an argument surrounding the need of ââ¬Å"inventing peaceâ⬠. Throughout the text, Weschler refers to different individuals to build up his claim. In each part, Weschler focuses and describes each individual as a unique existence. From murders to peacemakers, from past to present, Wechsler individualizes them from their groups in order to look at each with an unbiased, holistic point of view, developing a clear goal for achieving peace. To further develop his argument, Weschler focuses on Jan Vermeer, an artist who spent his entire life dedicated to drawing an ideal, peaceful environment which was non-existent during his time. Legacy, on the other hand, is clearly defined and nearly constant even as a large span of time has passed. Vermeer does include legacies, but with limited use, cutting off a reliable source to back up his argument. The use of interpretations allows his argument to be disputed and possibly rejected. After years of continuous violence and war, it is unlikely to seek out and prosecute the few that initiated the conflict since they are most likely no longer around anymore. Even if a descendant is found, individuality alone may not suffice for prosecution, nor will it necessarily be a step towards inventing peace. They might as well put up a random stranger, make up a case, and claim to have prosecuted the root of the evil. On the other hand, prosecuting a family known to have a legacy of criminal and inhumane acts is much more likely to lead to step towards inventing peace. Though it may disregard the individuals involved, it will truly be the end of one bloody legacy. There are many instances where legacy trumps the interpreted individuality. Edmond Dantes free essay sample
How would a person feel if all they ever loved and cared for was taken away from them at 19-years old? Alexandre Dumas created an amazing fictional novel in 1844. The Count of Monte Cristo is an adventurous book that keeps its readers on their toes. The writer will target the main character in this book. Edmond Dantes was a naive nineteen-year old teenager who had his life set. Dantesââ¬â¢ personality is something a writer would write about. He had an amazing job, fiance, and life. That all came crumbling down when four of his friend, or so he thinks, betrayed him and sent him to prison. Dantesââ¬â¢ strong willing character makes readers want to read more of the book. Dantes has become a loyal, intelligent, and vengeful man who, after being tricked by four selfish men, has planned his plot of revenge. Dantes was only nineteen-years old when his life was taking a tremendous leap. We will write a custom essay sample on Edmond Dantes or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page He starts off the beginning of the book positioned as the first mate on the Pharaon. The Morrel family was shipowners, which was a family business. Maximilien and Julie Morrel were Monsieur Morrelââ¬â¢s children who were apart of the family. Since Monsieur Morrel was the shipowner of the Pharaon, he was the first person to examine the ship since its cargo is very expensive. Dantes informed him that Captain Leclere died off Civitavecchia and the status on the ship was in good condition. Dantes returned to his duties, while Danglars tried to suck up to the shipowner. Dantes is known to be a man worth trusting and taking charge. While Morrel was watching Dantes preparing to drop anchor, he made a comment to Danglars saying, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦it seems to me a man doesnââ¬â¢t have to be old to do his work well, Danglars. Our friend Edmond there doesnââ¬â¢t look as though he needs advice from anyone. â⬠(Dumas 3). It is implied that Morrel admires Dantes loyalty and speaks to Danglars on account of Dantes. Dantes explains to Morrel that before the death of Captain Leclere, the captain ordered Dantes to deliver a package to Marshal Bertrand. The shipowner understands that all Dantes did was obey the order that was given to him. Morrel knew it was Dantesââ¬â¢ duty, as first mate to take command of the ship. Not only was Dantes a reliable person, but also a man of great intelligence. Dantes was accompanying his betrothal feast, when he was arrested and casted into Chateau dââ¬â¢If prison by his four enemies. He had no clue who turned him in, nor did he know what crime he committed. Dantes meets the crazy priest who introduces himself as Abbe Faria. Dantes realizes how smart and resourceful the priest is with the limited amount of tools he has. Dantes told the priest, ââ¬Å"You must teach me a little of what you knowâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (Dumas 59). ââ¬Å"Dantes had a prodigious memory and a quick keen, intelligenceâ⬠(Dumas 59). The priest agreed to teach Dantes, but he told him that it would take two years for Dantes to learn everything the priest knows. For fourteen years of being in prison Dantes changes from being a naive teenager to an intelligent young man within one year with the help of the priest. The priest became a father to Dantes as well as his mentor. After the death of the priest Dantes had a plan to escape prison by switching out he priests body and putting himself into he body bag. Dantes later found out that the cemetery for the Chateau dââ¬â¢If was the sea. The jailors had an idea that it wasnââ¬â¢t a dead man inside of the bag, but was sure the prisoner was dead since a bomb was tied to his feet. Dantes saw a ship of sailors and swam close enough for them to see him and uttered a cry. Once on the ship the captain asked him who he was. With as much knowledge that Abbe taught Dantes, he knew how to handle this situation, which required using a fake name. In order to succeed in life it is important to plan ahead, analyze, and think of proper ways to handle a situation. The best thing that happened to Dantes in prison was meeting the priest and him teaching Dantes to be intelligent. Dantes had learned so much from the priest that his plot of revenge will be brilliant rather than foolhardy.

AMERICANS GETTING TOUGH Essay Example For Students
AMERICANS GETTING TOUGH Essay In a time that Americans are feeling very unsure about our safety, I fully agree with thePatriot act, which was passed only six weeks after September eleventh. It is time we start protecting America. The patriot act is crucial to national security. I do not feel that the war on terror has opened the doors to abuse of civil rights of the prisoners being held at Guantanamo Bay Naval base in Cuba. I feel that we need to be more cautious of who we let walk our streets. We have to remember the visions of September eleventh, they were not pretty and many innocent people died. Had we been more cautious then on who we let into our country, we would not have been as vulnerable and the incident of September eleventh might not have happened. If we detained some of these prisoners for a long period of time, until we can be completely sure that they are not a threat to us Americans, than so be it. According to CNN.com prisoners at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base which is referred to asCamp x-ray are provided with an eight-by-eight foot outdoor cell with a concrete floor, roofand surrounded by a chain linked fence. On arrival they are given a mat to sleep on, a towel for showers and a towel for praying . They are given soap, toothpaste, a toothbrush and they are able to take a shower each day. They get served three meals a day with water. Two meals are hot and one meal meets the Muslim religious requirements. On entry they are provided with medical care. According to US Attorney General John Ashcroft, They have the right food, shelter and the right environment to avoid injury. I think we are providing these prisoners more comfort than the many homeless people living in the United States. It is sad that we worry more about the prisoners who are a potential threat to all Americans than we do for our own people who have been American citizens all of their life. We need to get a grip on reality this is war!According to Eugene Fidell, these detainees who are labeled enemy combatants will be able to have what is called a revue tribunal. The purpose of this will decide whether the detainees qualify for this label. The board who will decide this is made up of three military officers, people who had no prior involvement in the decision to label enemy combatants. Of the three people there will be a lawyer, a second lawyer as a legal advisor, recorder to the panels and the detainee will have an opportunity to defend himself. As stated in the Philadelphia Inquireron November 28,2004, two people accused of being members of the taliban and a man accusedof having links t o Al -Qaeda appeared before a review tribunals at the U.S. Navy base inGuantanamo Bay , in Cuba. The hearings are to decide whether the 550 prisoners have beencorrectly labeled enemy combatants, and if not they should be released. So far, one Pakistaniprisoner has been released. In closing, I feel the detainees are being offered a fair situation. They are given food, shelter and they are given a revue tribunal to prove themselves innocent. It makes you wonder how our people are being treated, hopefully as well as we are treating theirs.

The Chosen - Malters Development Essays - The Chosen, The Promise
The Chosen - Malter's Development One of the most emotional scenes from Chaim Potok's The Chosen is when Reuven goes with Danny Saunders to talk to his father. Danny has a great mind and wants to use it to study psychology, not become a Hasidic tzaddik. The two go into Reb Saunders' study to explain to him what is going to happen, and before Danny can bring it up, his father does. Reb Saunders explains to the two friends that he already known that Reuven is going to go for his smicha and Danny, who is in line to become the next tzaddik of his people, will not. This relates to the motif of "Individuality" and the theme of "Danny's choice of going with the family dynasty or to what his heart leads him." The most developing character from the novel is Reuven Malter. One of the ways that he developes in the novel is in hus understanding of friendship. His friendship with D\fanny Saunders is encouraged by his father, but he is wary of it at first because Danny is a Hasid, and regards regular Orthodox Jews as apikorsim because of the teachings of his father. Reuven goes from not being able to have a civil conversation with Danny to becoming his best friend with whom he spens all of his free time, studies Talmud and goes to college. Reuven truly grows because he leans, as his father says, what it is to be a friend. Another way that Reuven grows is that he learns to appreciate different people and their ideas. He starts out hating Hasidim because it's the "pious" thing to do, even though his father (who I see as the Atticus Finch of this novel) keeps telling him that it's okay to disagree with ideas, but hating a person because of them is intolerable. Through his friendship with Danny, studies with Reb Saunders, brief crush on Danny's sister (who was never given a name), and time spent in the Hasidic community, he learns that Hasids are people too with their own ideas and beliefs that are as valuable as his. He learns why they think, act, speak, and dress the way that they do and comes to grips with the fact that he doesn't have a monopoly on virtue. A third way in which Reuven grows, though the book doesn't really talk about it a great deal, is in his appreciation of life, or cha'im in Hebrew. He almost loses his vision, his father nearly works himself to death, six million Jews are butchered in Europe, and Danny's brother's poor health threatens Danny's choice to not become a tzaddik. When his eye is out of order he can't read, and indeed does remark that it's very difficult to live without reading, especially with a voracious appetite for learning such as his. His father almost dies twice and he talks about how difficult it is to live all alone in silence (which is a metaphor alluding to Danny's everyday life) for the month while his father is in the hospital. He sees Reb Saunders and his father feeling the suffering of the six million dead, Saunders by crying and being silent, David Malter by working for the creation of a Jewish state and being a leader in the movement, in addition to teaching at a yeshiva and adult education classes. And of course Danny is very worried by his brother's illness (hemophillia?) because if he dies it will be even harded for Danny to turn down his tzaddikship. By the end of the book, Reuven Malter is a very changed character. Potok is an expert with using allusion and metaphor. Very subtly throughout the book he uses this for the purposes of renforcing his points, foreshadowing, and to make the book a better read when you've read it previously and know the outcome. One example of this, one that I missed the first time I read the book in 7th grade is the paragraph at the end of chapter nine where Reuven is sitting on his porch and sees a fly trapped in a spider's web with the arachnid builder approaching. He blows on the fly, first softly,

Beyond Business Why Socializing is Not Just for the Holidays
Beyond Business Why Socializing is Not Just for the Holidays The holiday season is upon us. There seems to be a celebratory business networking event to attend every night of the week between Thanksgiving and Christmas. In the second week of December my party of choice was the Dane Buy Local holiday social, a gathering of local business owners in Madison, WI. For many of us at that event, the operating word was ââ¬Å"social.â⬠It struck me that most of the people I spoke to, though originally met as business contacts, have become friends. For most of the evening, I felt like I was gabbing with my girlfriends, just like I would at a birthday or Halloween party at one of their homes (which I have attended). We talked about relationships, personal growth, families, health â⬠¦ and, well, even a smattering of business (but not much). This sort of socializing was not what I ever would have predicted when I first became a ââ¬Å"businesswoman.â⬠When I first started my business, I thought I needed to keep my communications to business. But it wasnââ¬â¢t long before I learned that revealing my personality and just the right amount of my personal life in my communications created relationships that drew people into my sphere. Hereââ¬â¢s what Joan Stewart, media consultant and author of the online newsletter, ââ¬Å"The Publicity Houndââ¬â¢s Tips of the Week,â⬠says about the subject: On sites like Facebook and Twitter, the social networking conversation should include your personal and business lives. Sharing information about things like your pets, hobbies and special interests will endear you to those who are following you. When the time comes to use these sites to discuss a new product, your followers will be more receptive because theyââ¬â¢ll feel they already know something about you. Revealing personal information endears people in person too. More and more, in my networking meetings and coffee dates, I share about my personal life: my quirky beliefs in astrology, my uncharacteristic interest in reality TV, my dietary choices, and my relationships. I have yet to have anyone respond with anything but delight that we were able to share on a deeper level than they expected. The same goes with clients. My biggest fans and repeat clients are people Iââ¬â¢ve talked to about personal topics, not just their writing projects. Itââ¬â¢s human nature to trust and want to interact with people who know us for all aspects of our personalities and lives. Iââ¬â¢m not planning to post a profile photo of me and my Chihuahua any time soon (even if I do acquire one, which is very unlikely). But I will likely keep talking about kale, The Bachelorette, and maybe even conversations with my mother, for the foreseeable future. Woody Allen quotes and pictures of my family will show up on my Facebook page. And while Iââ¬â¢ll talk business at networking events, business will most definitely not be all I talk about. Life is so much more fun and engaging this way! And at this time of year- and really all year ââ¬Ëround- thatââ¬â¢s what itââ¬â¢s all about. ðŸâ¢â I love this picture. We have such a warm, inviting group in DBL. I could have stayed all night talking with you guys. Happy Holidays! Log in to Reply Jan Mead says: December 27, 2014 at 10:30 pm Well said, Brenda. Open Source Versus Closed Source Software - Essay Example Currently, there are a huge number of categories of the open source software that include but not limited to the Application Software, Operating Systems, Programming Languages and Server Software. Under each category there are many items / applications, for example, the application software include: Mozilla Firefox ââ¬â a web browser, OpenOffice ââ¬â an office suit, Eclipse ââ¬â an integrated development environment, 7-zip ââ¬â a file archiver or compressor etc. The operating systems include: the Linux, Android ââ¬â a mobile OS, FreeBSD etc. The open source computer programming languages include: PHP ââ¬â a scripting language used to develop websites, Perl, Ruby etc. The open source server software include: Apache ââ¬â a web server, Joomla ââ¬â a web content management system etc. Closed Source Software Closed source software also known as proprietary software is computer software which is only available without source code and licensed under limited l egal right as per provided by the copyright owner. The buyer of the propriety software is permitted to use the software having restrictions on modifications, redistribution, update / upgrade or reverse engineering and it is typically owned by a single organization. The vendors usually provide an executable or compiled form of the software applicationââ¬â¢s source code so that only the central processing unit of the computer can understand the machine language that cannot be converted into the source code. The propriety software is not allowed to redistribute or sharing the software with others, in case anybody else wanted to use the proprietary software it is required to purchase another unique license of the software. In other words, the proprietary software is the property of the owner / developer / publisher that cannot be copied or modified, with an appropriate price and need to comply the license agreement (National Taiwan University, 1991). "Open Source software tends to be free of dependency on related products. Purchasers of ten perceive that the product works best with other products from the same manufacturer. Open Source software offers its users greater freedom to purchase other products, avoiding lock-in to particular manufacturers." (QinetiQ, 2001) There are many disadvantages of the open source software as compared to the closed source software that include but not limited to the less availability of support, updates, less reliability as anyone can change / edit the code and

Electronic Commerce Essay Example for Free
Electronic Commerce Essay Introduction: E-Commerce is basically using the Internet to either buy or sell goods and it has been revolutionizing the way business is controlled. In recent times Internet has evolved so huge it has lead to development of lots of new web based technologies one of them, which is most used, is E-Commerce [1]. Online shopping is an example for the most used forms of e-commerce, which companies like Amazon or eBay offer. E-Commerce in Modern Business: Nowadays businesses that do not have an EC model have started adapting automating all the manual operations overriding it by e-commerce, since every person would want to save time and money, and these 2 factors are very important in a personââ¬â¢s life. Consider a person who wants to purchase a laptop, he does need to go to a store physically to buy it, he can buy it online within minutes, the laptop company would already have an online shopping website, the person can just browse for available laptops which contains all the information regarding the product right from color, weight, configuration, hardware and softwareââ¬â¢s, best part is he can also change the configuration online as he wants. Few companies offering online shopping are Dell, Apple, Hewlett Packard, Lenovo and many more. EC gives the people the added advantage to compare various products with one-click, they can either buy or sell their products. Usually sometimes people might not find all the brands in one particular store and now since EC has evolved to an extent where most of the brands offer online shopping a person is not limited to a geography and also M-commerce which is basically using wireless devices or handheld devices to do online transactions. M-commerce has been growing exponentially over the years. Smartphones is the new trend, people started creating Apps for their business, which can be accessed through mobiles, everyone can easily use the App on their smartphone to buy food, clothes, book flight/train/bus/cab etc. It is moreà like people can buy anything from the device on the go if they have Internet [1]. E-Commerce in Social Media: Social media has really changed the way we communicate it has replaced all the old age types of communications like writing post cards or letters. Internet has a big role in this change; people use social platforms like Messages, Watsapp, Twitter, YouTube or Facebook for communicating. Many people have still have a doubt how would social media increase the sales of a business. It is simple since almost everyone uses some kind of social networking platform for communicating; these platforms really bring awareness, they showcase daily deals as advertisements, people can keep a tab on the latest products releasing from a brand, business use celebrities to endorse their brands, customers can directly interact on these platforms with others and can discuss the plus or minus of a product or a service [2]. So businesses can setup up an advertisement on a website or social platform to promote their product. Feature for a person or business to promote a product or service ranging from 5$ per day to 100$ per day, based on the payment the audience for the advertisements will be higher. Most of the social networking platforms make money through advertisements. LinkedIn one more social platform for professionals where people from various companies meet and greet each other, participate in technical or non-technical discussions, but one feature where e-commerce is involved in LinkedIn is, it offers a premium profile for users in which a person will have access to apply for more number of jobs and recruiters have full access to post a new job, search for people who need a job or who are considering a job change. This way EC has a very important role in social media too. International Barriers for Success of EC: 3 International Barriers to EC which and their role in ECââ¬â¢s success, one of them is no limitation to Geography. In an e-commerce model when the websiteà offers shipping to not only domestic places but also internationally, it really helps increase the revenue [3]. Consider a product like Cordless Warming Tray, which is available in America but not available in countries like India, so if anyone wants it, buying the product is easy, any person can purchase the item online through Amazon and enter his/her international address for shipping. E-commerce websites also offer an option for faster shipping if the person needs a product immediately for which the person should pay a little more for the shipping costs. Business are now seeing the opportunities in international markets and have started their business setupââ¬â¢s in those countries, like Amazon did in India recently investing 2 Billions dollars and Uber too a cab service business which is based out of America also started its business in India and few other countries. Success of EC can be calculated here by the increase in revenue from international markets. Only few companies are offering this kind of non-limitation to geography like Amazon, Barnes and Noble etc. Organizations that only offer shipping fewer countries include The Limited, J-Crew and few others. Second type of international barrier is language, considering most of them speak English there might be a section of people who do not speak, read or write English. So to offer e-commerce for those people or to those areas/countries e-commerce websites started adapting their software or website in such a way that a user who has no knowledge of English would be able to search for any product he wants without the need to type in English, he would be able to do it in his own mother tongue and the price of the product is shown in various currencies which would help buyers to easily compare the price. In this type of barrier the number of users base for each company increases which ultimately increases the revenue too. Since now EC model would not only have customers from places who speak, read or write English but also from places where they can use their local language to buy or sell goods, this is very healthy in the EC model. Third type of barrier is for a successful EC model is Legal battle and Infrastructure, as we talked about no limitations to geography and language, so when a company sets up a EC model in different countries the first and foremost thing they will need to comply with is the legal rules of that particular country. Following the rules and regulations legally would really help a company offering EC to run their business smoothly without any issues or hiccups. There have been lots of issues for few companies offering EC in various countries, consider Facebook which is a most used social platform all over the world had to fight for legality issues in few countries since peopleââ¬â¢s information was visible for everyone. One more example would be Google Earth, which faced a lot of criticism and legal issues and is now banned in India, since it was very helpful for some organizations, which are under the radar of military forces. There are success stories like Amazon, EBay and many more who have been successfully doing their business in different countries. These companies have setup their websites domain separately for each country. Like www.amazon.com is used globally, www.amazon.au is used in Australia, www.amazon.in is used in India, these sites have their own infrastructure setup to control the load of users. Since EC systems should be available 24*7 for them to gain the users reliability and confidence also because users are all across the globe they cannot afford to lose business, they need to have their website up and running all the time. To establish that they need to have heavy configurations, storage and network bandwidths and a team of technical experts who would have the capability to stop hackers from attacking their websites and access risk management techniques well before anything unusual happens. To sum up EC has been growing and will be growing exponentially in todayââ¬â¢s and tomorrowââ¬â¢s business, since the ease of doing business has become very easy and as discussed time and money are important which can be saved from EC. Social media the main way of communicating with each other has also benefited from EC in a big way, since billions of users use this platform the revenue generated from the social media advertisements has made some of the start up companies like Google and Facebook to grow from a small scale companies to one of the biggest branded company and revenue generating companies all over the world. The international barriers have also as discussed added up to the success of EC. There might be limitations to EC like security issues and protecting the website or software from hackers butà it all depends on the organization on who attentive they are, how good their staff is in preventing such kind of attacks from happening. Selfless Service Definition Essay -- Expository Essays
Selfless Service When one sees the word selfless service, he/she literally sees the words self and less, followed by service. Self refers to an individual (in this case, it refers to oneââ¬â¢s own interests) and less indicates a lack of, or without. Service can be a synonym of the word volunteering or duty. Therefore, the term selfless service must literally mean the lack of the pursuit of oneââ¬â¢s own interests for the betterment of others. There is no measurement of selfless service. No matter what the scenario or who is involved, everyone who is involved benefits from oneââ¬â¢s selfless acts. The one who shows selflessness may benefit by receiving a ââ¬Å"thank you,â⬠or even just a good feeling of helping others. Of course, the ones who receive the selfless acts benefit from obvious reasons. Selfless service can be shown by anyone and everyone, including a soldier putting his/her life on the line to save a fallen comrade, a husband and father protecting and spending time wit h his wife and children, someone donating his/her time by volunteering as a tutor or with the American Red Cross or some other goodwill charity, and the teamwork of two or more athletes. Those four examples provide different scales in which selfless service can be displayed. Selfless service can be displayed in regards to oneââ¬â¢s nation/military, oneââ¬â¢s family, oneââ¬â¢s community, and any team sport. The U.S. Armyââ¬â¢s definition of selfless service is ââ¬Å"to put the welfare of the nation, the Army, and your subordinates before your ownâ⬠(ââ¬Å"Selfless Service,â⬠GoArmy.com). The Army consists of teams, in which those teams form a larger size unit, etc. If a team fails, the unit fails. One reason that a team may fail could have something to do with selfishness, which is of cour... ...less service by displaying humble teamwork in an effort to win as a team.
